EPSIODE 28
The divisions among us – denominations
Episode 28 was the conclusion of the 3 part series we started in Season 1, Episode 22, titled “The Divisions among us, Skin Color, Doctrine and Denominations”. Our conversation for this episode continued in the same Spirit as Episode 25, in the fact that it was one of continued healing for the body of Christ as we focused on why denominations are divisive at its core and have no root in scripture.
Summary
The episode’s aim wasn’t to amplify the spirit of disobedience behind denominations, but to share biblical verity needed to dismantle the divisive plan the enemy of our souls has been propagating in the body of Christ since the beginning of the church and continues to propagate through those who name the name of Jesus Christ.
In this episode…
— Are “Church” denominations apart of Gods plan for his church, the body of Christ? [12:10]
- In this first segment it was established that, unequivocally, denominations are not a part of God plan for his church. Ephesians 4:4-6, among other scriptures we share in this segment and later in the episode, attest to that verity. Our God, being sovereign, knew that the will of men, influenced by a Spirit of disobedience, would be carried out to form these denominations and create division. Just because they exist in the church doesn’t mean they are a part of God plan for his church. Denominations have no root in scripture. That said, our God will accomplish all his purpose despite what Men have attempted to establish in the “church”.
— We see in “Church” denominations where their leadership teaches, allows and even practices doctrine within their denomination that is contrary to the Truth that is the Word of God. Name two of these denominational doctrines or practices and why they are against scripture.[35:38]
- As we named 6 denominational practices in this middle segment, we were clear through scripture why they are contrary to the Word of God. These practices have been so exhibited in these denominations, over the centuries, that they have become the truth to so many that name the name of Christ. In Episode 25, we exposed the unfruitful works of darkness, as it relates to doctrinal divisions in the church, according to Ephesians 5:11. In this 2nd segment, we continued the revealing of these demonic practices in certain denominational and non-denominational churches.
— Episode 28 concluded with us answering the question: Considering your answer to the first 2 questions, why is unity of the faith vital to the body of Christ? [1:01:35]
- Unity of the faith is vital to the body of Christ. Without it, the divisions that continue to persist in the church will operate unchecked by those that call on the name of Jesus. Ephesians 4:2-3 tells us: with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. As believers in Jesus Christ, we must continue to walk in humility and longsuffering with one another, in love, as we endeavor to keep unity and peace; however, we must also not compromise the Truth to do this. It is not possible to do this in our own human capacity alone. We must allow Holy Spirit to lead us and use the fruit of Holy Spirit in us to walk this out with those that call on the name of the Lord with a pure heart. We love you TSV audience and will continue to endeavor in this area of unity and peace for all that our God has sent us to, and as he directs.
