EPSIODE 31

The destructive force of pride

The sin of pride has been embraced in all aspects of human life and is lauded as meritorious in the culture. We see prides stain in all of mankind, rich or poor, saved or unsaved. We can see it in the TV shows that are available for our visual consumption. In the music that is vying for our attention. Even from those who preach every Sunday.

Those outlets and others are controlled, by in large, by the enemy of our souls. The prince of the power of the air. The devil. Pride was the impetus in him being cast of heaven and his angelic position being destroyed forever. He attempts to use these external outlets, and others, to lead us into a prideful state.

Summary

In addition to external compulsions, the enemy of our souls also attempts to pressure us internally by getting us to focus of the old sin nature, where the ability to tap in the works of the flesh are rooted, as oppose to the newness of life that we have in Christ Jesus.

Episode 31 exposes the destructive force of pride and where humility before God mutes its effect in our lives.

In this episode…

— Why is it prideful for mankind to think, speak and do anything that is contrary to the Word of God? [10:42]

  • As believers in Jesus Christ, our thoughts, words and actions must be in line with Gods word. Any other position is prideful. Keep in mind that the enemy of our souls is attempting to keep you focused on yourself and what you are experiencing as oppose to the Word of God. 1 John 2:16 says: For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. As you listen to the first segment, focus on how you respond to what is in the Word of God and how you allow it work in your life.
  •

— The question for our 2nd stanza was the topic was: How does a lifestyle of pride destroy you? [31:29]

  • Our middle segment spoke to the sobering truth of what a lifestyle of pride will do to anyone that engages in it, even those that profess the name of Christ. Hebrews 10:26-27 was a part of the focus for this portion of the conversation. As you listen, please allow Holy Spirit to lead you here as you download this piece of the discourse into your Spirit.
  •

— We closed the conversation piece of Episode 31 discussing: Considering humility is the antithesis of pride, name 3 ways we walk in humility before God and it’s importance in the life of a believer. [49:35]

  • To conclude the conversation portion of Episode 31, each host provided 3 ways we walk in humility before God along with its importance in the believer’s life. A lifestyle of humility keeps our hearts fertile to receive the seed of the Word of God, which will then produce what he has purposed us to fulfill in this life. The vitality of this verity is demonstrated in the thoughts you think, the words you speak and the actions you take, based upon God word. Adhering to that immutable truth will keep prides destructive force from rooting in your heart.
