EPSIODE 10

Is our way of living pleasing God or pleasing man?

When we endeavor to do God’s will in all areas of our lives, we are pleasing to Him. Our way of living must reflect God’s purposeful plan for our lives, as prescribed in His Word. The Fear of Man brings a snare… (Proverbs 29:25), so as believers we should only be focused on our thoughts, our words and our actions aligning with God’s Word, and not the edicts of men.

Summary

Episode 10’s discussion produced actionable steps for TSV listeners to use as they continue their ongoing life transformation to display a lifestyle pleasing to God and not men.

In this episode, we discussed…

— What can we do to keep our thoughts pleasing to God and not men?  [09:23]

  • Committing everything in our lives to the Lord allows Him to establish our thoughts (Proverbs 16:3). We have been given authority, through the name of Jesus Christ, to speak against any thought or anything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5). In this opening stanza of our conversation, we detailed how our vigilance in speaking the Word of God against any contrary thought and purposefully guarding what enters into our hearts and minds, helps keep us connected to the will of God.

— Since our thoughts form our words, how do our words demonstrate our service to Christ?  [24:25]

  • The middle portion of our conversation focused on our words and how they display Christ service. For our words to properly serve Jesus, we have to renew our minds to what He has said in His Word. You do this by immersing yourself in Scripture, and cutting off the former things you did, or watched or listened to that shaped your thinking against Jesus Christ. Once you have done that, you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will, as scripture says in Romans 12:2. Allowing God to examine our hearts, as He helps us watch what we say, produces sharpened focus in our service to Jesus Christ.

— Why must our actions align with the word of God as oppose to the will of men? [39:02]

  • As we wrapped up our discourse for Episode 10, we focused on why our actions must align with the Word of God. We are instructed in Proverbs 3:5-6 to not rely upon our own will, our own understanding. When we trust in and acknowledge the Lord in all we do, we align our actions to His will. The key factor here is ourselves, not people. The Word of God is the only authority where with you judge yourself. Not the word of men. When you allow the Word to do its work in your life, you will be prepared to do that work wherever God sends you.
