Love

We, humans, were created for relationship, a gift from our sovereign God. When we understand that verity, it becomes clear why millions of people seek the true meaning of love, especially in these end times.

Sadly, everything but the true definition of love, according to the verity of the Word of God, turns up in such searches

Summary

Beyond defining love, the Bible also gives us the characteristics of love in clear terms as listed in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a and goes even further to show us how to walk in love.

As believers in Jesus Christ, it is incumbent upon us to not only help guide the world to the true definition of love but to also live out the commandment as given to us by our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in John 13:34-35.

In this episode, we discussed…

— What is Love? [07:34]

  • Based on Biblical truth, it is impossible to separate the “what” from the “who” when answering this question, as evident in 1 John 4:8,16. While there may be different expressions and manifestations of love, it is crucial to emphasize that God is love, and He demonstrated this love through the ultimate sacrifice of His Son on the Cross for our sins.

—Why is Love “the greatest of these” as stated in 1 Corinthians 13:13? [25:30]

  • Let’s look at the complete verse, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” Now, when we get to Heaven, we won’t require faith or hope, but love will continue to characterize our relationship with our sovereign God for eternity because God is love, so love is the greatest of these.

— How do you walk in love? [38:59]

  • In this last segment, each host took turns to share how they walk in love––which is a central line to our relationship with Christ. As detailed in Ephesians 5:1-2, we are to imitate our God as His beloved children, and one of the ways of doing that is seeking what’s best for others as Christ did for us.
