EPSIODE 41

Image vs. Identity

The 41st episode of your favorite podcast focused on Image and Identity, particularly the image of God we are all made in and our Spiritual identity found in the Word of God. As believers in Jesus Christ, we have an image problem. An identity problem.

In some respects, we mirror the worlds process in how we live our lives, while identifying with the cares of life as if they are our own. We have allowed the enemy of our souls access to our thoughts, our words and our actions, through identifying with everything in the World as opposed to what our God says we are in His Word.

Summary

We sow to the flesh and not the Spirit. Even though the title of this episode, Image vs Identity, denotes a battle, in truth this episode demonstrates the connection of both in the life of a believer and the enemies constant attack on what he has no power over, specifically God’s image in humanity and the identifying attributes of His Spirit that is present in every believer.

The Hosts of your favorite podcast, through Holy Spirit, brought image and identity back into alignment with the Word of God for our 41st conversation. Listen and study our show notes as you refresh your Spirit as you renew your mind to the verity that is the Word of God concerning the Image of God we were made in and the Spiritual identity we were given upon receipt of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In this episode…

— What does made in the Image of God mean in the life of a believer in Jesus Christ? [11:56]

  • Being made in the image of God for a believer means that, as a believer he now has the standing, through Christ, to be lovingly conformed to his image, his likeness, in the earth. The image of God we were made in was marred by the sin of Adam, but by the blood of the lamb we have been made clean and our sins have been washed away. Because of salvation the new man, our reborn Spirit, is back in alignment with its Creator. A lot of meat for our audience was detailed here, so take a listen for additional context…..

— How does Spiritual identity differ from human identity? [23:10]

  • The middle stanza of our communion spoke to the differences between our Spiritual identity found in Christ, who is the Word of God, and our humanity that is tied to the natural world we live in. The Word of God details our Spiritual Identity, specifically concerning all that is said in the Word that identifies us as children of God. The attributes of the fruit of the Spirit, as detailed in Galatians 5:22-23, are indicators of our Spiritual identity embodied in our Lord and Savior and is us as believers in Him. Human identity is defined as how we view ourselves and how others view us. It is not our physical make up that denotes us as made in the image of God, our whole being, Spirit soul and Body are made in the image of God. Our Spiritual identity as believers in Jesus Christ is found in scripture. Human identity is tethered to this world and the sin that binds it.

— As a believer in Jesus Christ, how does the enemy of our souls attack our identity and what can we do to thwart those attacks? [40:00]

  • As we wrapped up Episode 41, we shared some of the ways we as believers in Jesus Christ can stop the attacks of the enemy against our identity. We do that by placing a guard over our hearts, our thinking and our Spirits. This is where he attacks with thoughts that are contrary to the Word of God. So, the guard, in this respect, is the Word of God, keeping it daily before your eyes and in your ears. We also must not participate in the attacks the enemy brings against us through self-sabotage. When we believe the lies the enemy spreads about our identity in Christ, we are sabotaging ourselves and giving him place in our lives. We must leave the old man in the past and embrace the newness of life we have in Christ Jesus. We do that by adhering to the whole counsel of God, and not just the counsel that makes us feel good about ourselves.
